What is the reason you want to take part in Mr Gay Europe 2025?
My name is Edu Morales, I come from the sun-drenched south of Spain — a region rich in beauty, but where rural life often meant hiding who you are. I grew up in a small town, surrounded by fields and traditions, but also by silence. Silence about diversity. Silence about being different. Being gay in that environment wasn’t talked about — it was something invisible, something misunderstood.
But I never stopped dreaming. Today, I stand proud not only as a representative of my country but as a voice for all those young people who grow up feeling like they don’t belong, who look in the mirror and wish they could simply be seen. I’ve turned that silence into strength.
Fitness, music, and dance are not just hobbies for me — they’ve been my escape, my therapy, my joy. I’m passionate about connecting with people, creating safe spaces, and using visibility as a tool for change. I truly believe that when you show yourself to the world, you give others permission to do the same.
I want to take part in Mr. Gay Europe 2025 because I know how important it is to have role models. I didn’t have any. Growing up gay in a small village in southern Spain wasn’t easy. For many years, I felt like I didn’t belong — like there was no place for someone like me. And now that I’ve learned to accept and love myself, I feel the need to give something back.
To me, this competition is not just about a sash or a nice photo. It’s a platform to speak up, to give visibility, to represent all those young people who still don’t feel ready to say “this is who I am.” I want to talk about mental health, education, and how coming out is still a challenge in many places. I want to highlight that diversity exists in rural areas too — not everything happens in big cities.
And above all, I want to show that being yourself is the greatest act of courage and freedom. If my voice can help someone feel a little less alone, then it will all be worth it.
Why you should be selected to become Mr Gay Europe 2025?
Because I don’t want this title for me — I want it for all the people who still can’t live their truth.
Now, as Mr. Gay Spain, my impact is mostly within my country, especially in the Peninsula. I’m proud of the work I’m doing, but I know I can go further. With the title of Mr. Gay Europe, I could carry that message of visibility, respect, and inclusion far beyond our borders — even to those countries where LGBTQ+ rights are being questioned or taken away.
I don’t come with big speeches or perfect answers. I come with lived experience, with empathy, and with a clear purpose: to be a loud voice for those who are still silenced.
I believe in action, in building safe spaces, in using visibility not as a spotlight — but as a mirror where others can finally see themselves reflected.
If I am chosen as Mr. Gay Europe 2025, I will take this mission seriously. Because this isn’t just about celebrating diversity — it’s about defending it.
What do you think is the biggest LGBT challenge in Europe today?
The biggest challenge facing the LGBTQ+ community in Europe today is the alarming rise of anti-LGBTQ+ narratives and political regression, especially in countries where young people are growing up in fear, silence, and invisibility.
As someone who grew up gay in a small rural town in southern Spain, I know what it feels like to not see yourself reflected anywhere — to feel like being who you are is somehow wrong. And although Spain has made great progress, many parts of Europe are going in the opposite direction. Right now, in 2025, we are witnessing laws that ban Pride parades, remove LGBTQ+ education from schools, and push young people back into the closet.
And this hits hardest where it always does: in the classrooms, in the families, and in the mental health of our youth. I’ve spoken with many young people who feel more scared to come out today than they would have ten years ago. That’s not progress — that’s a warning.
What worries me most is that this wave of intolerance hides behind words like “tradition,” “family values,” or “freedom of opinion.” But freedom should never come at the cost of someone else's dignity.
We are not just fighting for visibility anymore. We are fighting to not disappear.
That’s why I believe the mission of Mr. Gay Europe is more important than ever. We don’t just need pretty pictures — we need loud voices. We need role models who speak out, who go where others won’t, and who remind every young LGBTQ+ person that they are not alone — not in Hungary, not in Bulgaria, not in Spain, not anywhere.
If I can help carry that message — with honesty, with heart, and with courage — then I’m ready.
Because defending love is not a trend. It’s a duty.
